Our Story

We're a group of SM323 students who started off as teammates and ended up as a family.

It all started when Team 3, affectionately called #noflexzone, was placed together on a Tuesday in September 2014. Porter Hayes, Asees Binepal, Savanna Yourtee, Lushi Wang, Tim Zhang, Matt Lee, Cooper Schilling, Melissa Primrose and Bella Wang started off as strangers, but quickly realized that they were the most phenomenal team to ever exist. Assigned with the task of inventing a product unlike anything on the market or in the  CORE archives files, the team used their combined efforts to create the EyeCase.

The EyeCase is a tablet case that encourages safer tablet use and protects users from the negative health effects associated with prolonged exposure to device screens. The case encourages the user to follow the optometrist recommended “20-20-20” rule: to look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds for every 20 minutes of device use.

The case has a sensor that measures the user’s distance from the screen as well as a timer built in to track how long the user has been looking at the screen. The LED lights blink when a user comes within 18 inches of the screen, and illuminate every 20 minutes to alert the user to look away for 20 seconds. The case also comes with a separate screen protector that will effectively reduce the harmful glare of the screen.
